2/Lt. Bill 'Tiger' Watson MC

A medical student whose philisophy was very much at odds with his 'Tiger' soubriquet, Bill found himself at the age of just 20, commanding a Section within 1/2 Commando.

He was still just 20 when he was given command of a Protection Party travelling with Captain Pritchard, on ML 457.

With only a handful of men available, he was seeking reinforcements from Newman when co-opted into the Commando breakout group heading for the New Town. 'Tiger' unfortunately was wounded short of Bridge 'D', and left to be taken prisoner by Germans who assumed he must be a parachutist 'because no one could have been mad enough to try and come up the river...'

After several operations he ended the war in Spangenberg Castle, Oflag 1X A/H, where he resumed his interrupted medical studies.
